1951 Born in Morioka City, Iwate
1971-75 Studied at Tokyo Zokei University, B.A.
1975-77 Studied at the Postgraduate Course of Tokyo University of the Arts, M.A.
1985-86 Taught at Tokyo University of the Arts, sculpture course
1986-87 Stayed in London by the Japanese government overseas study program for artists
1989- Teaches at Tokyo Zokei University
1990-91 Taught at Tokyo University of the Arts, sculpture course
1991 Awarded the 1st Takashimaya Charitable Trust for Art and Culture Prize
1995 Awarded the 26th Nakahara Teijiro Excellence Prize
1997 Awarded the 18th Hirakushi Denchu Prize
2003 Awarded the 33th Nakahara Teijiro Prize
2009 Awarded the 50th Mainichi Art Award
Awarded the 59th Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s Art Encouragement Award
2011 Awarded the Medal with Purple Ribbon
