LALIBERTÉ, ColetteCanadian, born 1952

Colette Laliberté is an artist and Associate Professor at the Ontario College of Art and Design, Toronto (OCAD). She teaches drawing, painting, installation and site-specific art interventions. From 2004-2006, she was Chair of First-Year Studies and from 2006-2008, she has held the position of Assistant Dean at OCAD's Faculty of Art.

Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. Exhibitions include Galeria de Arte Universal, Santiago de Cuba, Cuba (2007); Triangle Artists' Workshop 2004, Brooklyn, New York (2004); Durham Art Gallery, Durham, Ontario (2003); Musée des beaux-arts de Sherbrooke, Sherbrooke, Quebec (2003); ARCO Madrid, Spain (1996) among others. In June 2008, she did a two-week residency at the Medialab-Prado: Interactivos?'08 Vision Play.

She is the recipient of visual grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Art Council and, Toronto Arts Council. Her work can be found in private collection in Canada, France and, Spain as well as in the public collection of le Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec à Québec, le Musée des beaux-arts de Sherbrooke and, the Canada Council for the Arts, Art Bank.

Her drawings, paintings and wall interventions derive from her interest in the history of urban planning and how technologies contribute to shaping and reshaping our environment and affect our ways on thinking and doing.
